We've been eagerly awaiting the arrival of the 2017 Audi RS 3 on our shores, and it's finally here. Edmunds Road Test Manager Jonathan Elfalan gets his hands on the 400-horsepower pocket rocket, in Catalunya Red, to find out how quickly it'll clear a quarter-mile and then spends a few laps around the handling circuit to suss out how well it gets around corners. Q: How much does the 2017 Audi RS 3 cost?
A: The 2017 Audi RS 3 starts at $55,450, including destination. The vehicle tested in this video has a few packages, including the Dynamic ($1,450), Dynamic Plus ($4,800) and Technology ($3,900) packages, along with a few other aesthetic options that bring it to $66,775. This is slightly above average for the segment.

Q: What kind of powertrain does the Audi RS 3 have, and how much horsepower and torque does it put out?
A: The 2017 Audi RS 3 has a turbocharged 2.5-liter five-cylinder paired to a seven-speed, dual-clutch automatic transmission. The inline-five, which has a unique cylinder firing order, is what gives the RS 3 its distinctive engine and exhaust sound. The engine churns out 400 horsepower and 354 pound-feet of torque.

Q: What are the Audi RS 3's main competitors, and where does it stand among them?
A: The RS 3's main competition is the BMW M2 and the Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 4Matic. Neither makes as much power or torque as the RS 3, but both weigh in a little lighter. The RS 3, as tested, is the quickest of the bunch and strikes the best balance between performance and utility.
