eastern university ESOL ONline - WEA Eastern 2014 Adult Learners' Week Award Winner

Here is the video of the 2014 Adult Learners' Week project winner ESOL ONline.

The project was born out of the need for Unite the Union to deliver a comprehensive ESOL programme to their migrant workers. However, there were several major barriers to this, one being the lack of funding available to run courses and the second issue being the logistical problem of students not being free to attend traditional face to face lessons due to changing shift patterns and regular relocation. The new software allows the student to interact with tasks, listen to audio clips, watch video clips and practice their writing skills. In addition, it is adaptable to meet students’ learning needs including changing fonts, screen size and colour while it has the option for text to speech. This allows for greater differentiation in the students’ learning experience.
